Black Friday is dumb

6 a.m., 5 a.m., and even 4 a.m. sales? You want me to get my butt out of my warm bed bed in the middle of the night and stand in the freezing cold with a strong likelihood that I won’t even get what I’m waiting for cuz there’s dozens of crazed people who are camped out in front of the store? What happened to customer service?

3 brick-n-mortar stores had awesome deals on 500 GB hard drives that actually beat the best deals on the web. But this 5:00 nonsense didn’t meet my customer service needs. I was stupid enough to entertain the notion of becoming a slave to bargain shopping. I set my alarm for 4:30 a.m. resulting in the snooze button getting whacked three times.

I agree. I did a lot of online shopping this weekend. But my Black Friday days are over.

As a former retail employee, well, that’s all I have to say. I used to work retail. I know better than to head out to go shopping on Black Friday. Now I hear that stores are going to start opening after Noon on Thanksgiving Day.

You actually set your alarm for 4:30am? That’s funny.

my comment got posted three times. That’s REALLY funny.

I caved one year.. saved $250 on my laptop. Even then, I didn’t wake up until 8am. The experience was a nightmare though, I’ve never seen so many people in a half-panicked+ state before.

I think next year I’ll go to bestbuy, find a comfy computer chair, wheel it into the middle of the store and just watch everyone be irrational.
