super easy way to test your internet connection speed

It can’t get any easier than this. Go to http://www.internetfrog.com/mypc/speedtest/ and it will give you the speed of your internet connection. You don’t have enter anything in. You don’t even have to click anything. It just does it. It takes about 10 seconds.

It’s fun to see what speed you’re actually getting, especially if you have DSL or cable modem. It is also useful as a troubleshooting tool if your internet connection is acting up.

At 2.52 Mbps, download a:

1 MB file in 4 seconds
10 MB file in 32 seconds
100 MB file in 5 minutes

I don’t know what any of this means, but it’s forcing me to believe it!

My connection at home is better than my connection at work! How likely is that!?

How sad is this. My download speed at work is approximately that of an ISDN line. Just better than a 56K Modem. I always said the IT here was poor, but this proves it once and for all.

5.28 Mbps. I’ve got a Comcast cable modem, but it was hovering close to the T2 designation. Cool!

Just tried it again, to be sure. This time it was 4.97, still pretty close. Not bad.
